5. Divisions

5.1 The competition will be divided into domestic and overseas (including the Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and Taiwan region) divisions

5.2 Age groups:

Group A: No more than 11 years old (born after January 1, 2013);

Group B: 12 to 17 years old (born between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2012);

Group C: 18 to 39 years old (born between January 1, 1985 and December 31, 2006);

Group D: 40 to 59 years old (born between January 1, 1965 and December 31, 1984);

Group E: No less than 60 years old (born before December 31, 1964);

6. Competition Method

6.1 A competitor can only enter one barehanded routine, one weapon, and one group event. Group event videos must feature six or more participants performing together; other videos will not be judged offline. For the individual events, the competitor must upload a video of his/her solo performance and the videos which do not meet the aforesaid criteria will not be scored.

6.2 The spectators can vote via the official website, mobile site and official WeChat account of the Chinese Wushu Association. Each spectator or IP address is limited to three votes per day for one video and voting for multiple videos is allowed. Domestic spectators can only vote via the official WeChat account.

6.3 All the submissions which pass the compliance check will be scored by the judges offline.

6.4 The offline judging will be conducted in accordance with the Rules for Traditional Wushu Competition Rules approved by the Chinese Wushu Association in 2024 and other relevant provisions. A submission will not be scored if more than five movements in it are found being added, missed, or changed.

6.5 The performed Taolu (routine) for Chen style, Yang style, Wu style, Wuu style, Sun style, 24 Simplified Forms Taijiquan, 42 Forms Taijiquan, 32 Forms Taijijian, 42 Forms Taijijian and Taiji (Eight Methods and Five Steps Routine) must be approved by the General Administration of Sport of China, its Wushu Research Institute and Chinese Wushu Association.

6.6 Time limit

The competitor should finish his/her routine in 3 to 6 minutes.

6.7 Deductions made by the head judge

6.7.1 A deduction of 0.1 points is made if the competitor finishes his/her routine 5 seconds (or less) less or more than the specified time; a deduction of 0.2 points for 5-10 seconds (excluding 5) less or more than the specified time; a deduction of 0.3 points for over 10 seconds less or more than the specified time; a maximum deduction of 0.3 points shall be made for such errors;

(Note: The timekeeping shall start when the competitor begins his/her performance from a stationary position and stop when his/her whole routine ends in a standing position.)

6.7.2 0.1 points shall be deducted if the competitor commits an error in sequences of movements or adding/missing/changing one movement. The deductions for such errors will be added up.

6.7.3 0.2 points shall be deducted if lyrics (including rap performance) are found in the video with musical accompaniment.

6.8 Tied scores

If a tied score occurs in the competition, the competitor who gets more online votes shall be placed higher.

7. Placing and Rewards

7.1 Competitors in domestic and overseas divisions will be placed separately. The top 6 individual and team winners in each domestic event will qualify for the "2024 National Taijiquan Open Finals" in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province, from October 29 to November 2, 2024, with prizes and bonuses.

7.2 Male and female competitors will be placed separately. 20%, 30% and 40% of the competitors will be awarded the first, second and third prize respectively based on their scores from high to low, and the rest 10% will be awarded the participation award and an electronic certificate. Scores will be rounded up to 2 decimal places.

7.3 The Online Popularity Awards Male and female competitors will be awarded separately. 20%, 30% and 40% of the competitors will be awarded the first, second and third prize respectively based on online votes from the spectators from high to low, and they will receive an electronic certificate for this award, and scores will be rounded up to 2 decimal places; a competitor who receives 10 online votes or less is not qualified for this award and electronic certificate.

7.4 A Most Popular Competitor Award is available for both domestic and overseas participants, and the competitor who gets the most online votes will receive an electronic certificate for this award.

7.5 The scores and placings will be released on the Chinese and English editions of the official website of the Chinese Wushu Association at intervals; the videos of male and female first-prize winners of each age group will be streamed on the official website.

7.6 The winning competitors can log in the official website of the competition to download and print their electronic certificates 5 to 7 days after the results are announced. The certificates will be downloadable for one month, after which the service will be unavailable.

7.7 If no more than three competitors participate in an age group event (male or female), the event will be merged with the one with the next/previous age group and male and female competitors in the merged event will be placed separately.

7.8 A certificate of participation will be issued to the competitors by the Sport for All Department of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Sport for All Department of the All-China Sports Federation.

8. Competition Results and Ranking

Individual competition results can be used to waive technical exams for Wushu ranks 1-6. Eligible participants can apply through the "China Wushu APP - Comprehensive Service Platform" for rank recognition according to relevant regulations.

9. Judges and the Jury of Appeal

The judges and members of Jury of Appeal will be invited to officiate the competition. Such officials and their duties shall be assigned in accordance with the regulations concerned.

10. Appeals and Ruling

10.1 Appeals

10.1.1 Scope of appeals: Appeals can be submitted by competitors who disagree with the deductions made by the head judge for finishing a routine more/less the specified time.

10.1.2 Procedures and requirements for appeals: If a competitor disagrees with the head judge's decisions against him/her, the appeal shall be submitted by him/her over the Internet before 24:00 on October 9, 2024 (GMT+8), together with an appeal fee of 1,000 RMB (or 200 USD for the overseas division). Each appeal is limited to one issue.

10.2 Ruling

10.2.1 The Jury of Appeal shall examine the case and make a timely decision. If the judgment made by the head judge proves to be wrong, the original results will be changed and the appeal fee shall be returned; otherwise, the original results will not be changed and the appeal fee shall not be returned.

10.2.2 The appeal decision made by the Jury of Appeal is final and the appellant shall abide by it.

11. Entry

11.1 Entry Method

Participants can submit entry via the official website, mobile site and official WeChat account of the Chinese Wushu Association. See the Contest Guidelines of the Third Global Taijiquan Virtual Competition for more details.

11.2 Specific requirements

1) To complete the registration, participants must fill in the registration form and upload the video(s). The video duration should not be less than the specified time, otherwise the content cannot be submitted. One participant is limited to compete in one event with one video, otherwise the submission will not be scored.

2) For team events, the team name shall comply with the regulations of the category and not exceed 10 Chinese characters. Certain words, such as world, international, China and Chinese, are prohibited for naming a team.

3) The video should be continuously filmed, unedited and in high definition MP4 or MOV format, and it is recommended to make a video file less than 300MB. The footage should be clear and not shaky.

4) The video should be customized for the competition. The competitor in the video can introduce the name of the competition and the event he/she participates in, or use a text label, background, banner or other markers for this purpose. If the video has been used for any other competition, the submission will not be scored.

5) It is strictly prohibited for competitors to resort to deceit or impersonation, and any competitors or participating teams violating such provisions, once verified, will be disqualified from the competition.

6) It is prohibited for editing the submission and such conduct is considered as cheating and the submission will not be scored.

7) The rules of the competition do not provide for the scenery used in the video and it can be filmed in indoor/outdoor environments, on a professional carpet or at other sites.

8) The competitor or the participating team should be seen clearly in the footage, taking up 50% to 70% of the image.

9) Loud noise should be avoided in the video.

10) Please ensure the video is filmed in a well-lit environment so that the judges can see every movement clearly. If the submission is filmed in low-light conditions, it will not be scored.

11) Please film the video in landscape mode. Please use a tripod for stable filming. The filming is limited to camera panning. The camera height should be aligned with the head of the competitor and he/she should always stay in the image during the filming.

12) The submission should include the fist-and-palm salute prior to the routine, beginning the performance from a stationary position, stopping when his/her whole routine ends in a standing position and giving the fist-and-palm salute again. But it is strictly prohibited to buy time by greetings or other means.

13) The competitor should wear a Wushu uniform which fits the characteristics of Taijiquan.14) It is strictly prohibited to submit a video which violates social ethics, laws or regulations or uses product placement, including but not limited to images, pictures, icons, banners, slogans, wording and sounds.

12. Miscellaneous

1) No entry fee is collected for the competition.

2) The Chinese Wushu Association shall be in charge of supervising and managing the competition, and it is entitled to disqualify any competitor who violates the relevant regulations set by the Association.

3) A competitor will be disqualified from the competition if his/her submission does not conform to the requirements of the event and video.

4) A participating account will be closed it its owner is found vote rigging or buying.

5) The Chinese Wushu Association is entitled to interpret these rules.

6) Any matters not stipulated here will be subject to further notices.
