The 2024 Global Taijiquan Virtual Competition

“The epidemic recurs but fitness never stops.” The Sport for All Department of General Administration of Sport of China and Sport for All Department of the All-China Sports Federation launched the Sports for All Online Games on April 28 which is a closely watched event. Over 50 events have been launched for a month as of May 28. They attracted more than 3.3 million persons to sign up. Some 730,000 Participation Certificates have been issued. These events have greatly enriched the cultural and sport life of our people, advocated a healthy lifestyle, created a healthy and fun fitness experience which has not be seen before and started a craze of cloud-based fitness activities for all.

By utilizing the internet, new media platforms, multimedias and multiple communication means, the host has enhanced the publicity of science-based fitness and held a variety of online fitness-for-all events which are easy to participate in. The Sports for All Online Games combines offline fitness activities and cloud-based interaction so that the participants can perform at anytime and anywhere. They will compete against and interact with each other on the online platform. A sport feast combining online and offline engagement with participation by all people is delivered in this way.

The statistics show that the online platform of this event has a total of over 1.6 million visitors, more than 1.1 million viewers have watched the science-based fitness guidance videos and the persons signing up across the country exceed 600,000.

During the month since the Sports for All Online Games was launched, the network media have reported it for over 1.3 billion times. The related topics on Weibo have been viewed for over 100 million times. Short videos related to the event have been streamed more than 660 million times on Tik Tok, Kuishou and other short-form video hosting services. Over 800 reports of the event have been reported by TV news, paper media, network news, news app, WeChat public accounts, Weibo posts, Toutiao and other news outlets. Sports for All Online Games have been mentioned for over 600 million times on various news platforms and social medias, which further expands its influence and helps to build an improved public service system for the fitness-for-all program.

The fitness-for-all program requires participation by all. These events have been held across the country to meet the need of staying healthy of all kinds of people. They are favored by the broad masses and they are heating up since they are launched, attracting many persons to actively sign up.

Among the various events competed online, physical fitness test, rope skipping, Taijiquan, marathon and cycling are also favored by many participants.

Besides the competing and demonstrating events, the Sports for All Online Games also set up online fitness courses taught by stars, champion athletes and social sport instructors. The social sport instructors led the participants to carry out fitness activities with a well-balanced guiding philosophy. Their instructions inspired greater participation of the games and the participants can share the joy of sport during the days of staying at home for the epidemic prevention and control.

Next, the Sports for All Online Games will keep giving full play to the active role of sports in epidemic prevention and control of China, and engage with more people so that the fitness-for-all program and daily exercise can be a part of people’s life, the fitness-for-all program can integrate deeply with the public health program and our people can have a greater sense of gain and more happiness from participating in the fitness activities.
